The Tenants’ Scrutiny Group presents a constructive challenge to Soha’s Board and management. It looks at Soha’s decision making at a strategic level and holds the Board and managers to account over decisions that affect tenants. It has 8-12 members, some of whom are also Tenants’ Forum members.

The Tenants’ Scrutiny Group has recently been awarded the gold standard by Tenant Advisor. Soha is one of the first two housing associations to receive this accolade.

Improvements

The Tenants’ Scrutiny Group has made a very positive impact both in Soha’s accountability and social capital.

Following Scrutiny Group recommendations:

• Improvements have been made to the way residents and Soha communicate with each other
• A new ‘quick-fire consultation’ on important and urgent decisions has been implemented
• Group members have received training and have developed their office skills
