Old School Place Tenants' Association aims to promote the interests of tenants at Old School Place in Watlington. Membership is open to everyone living at the scheme.
The Association meets regularly to discuss issues affecting residents of Old School Place, and to organise social events.
The group says:
- We fund our trips and excursions by having a weekly coffee morning where we have a raffle and the Lotto Bonus Ball.
- Last year (2007) we had a joint trip with Benson, to Bournmouth which everyone enjoyed. We also had a very enjoyable river trip on a Salters Steamers boat which was a lovely peaceful wind in the willows afternoon, with a lovely cream tea.
- This was the third year we have been on the river and having learnt by our mistakes would not have a private hire again, but go on a public boat as this would be a lot cheaper.
- Our Strawberry Tea in July in aid Alzheimer's and was well attended and raised over £200.
- We had a lovely Christmas party in the West Room with a musician and a magician. Early this year, before the AGM here, while the weather was so dreary we went for lunch to the Waterside Café at Benson which was lovely.
This year the events planned to date are lunch (again) in June at the Waterside Café. Also in June we are having our Strawberry Tea, this year in aid of the Blind. In July we are having a Barbecue in the garden. We will also try to organise a trip out during the summer. And finally, plans are in hand to have our Christmas Party at (guess where?) yes, the Waterside Café, which will save us a lot of work and give us far more enjoyment, and we will have the Elizabeth Bus to transport all the 'old crocks' and the halt and lame to and fro.
