Calculating Your Rent

How is your rent calculated?
The rent you pay will depend on where you live and the size of your house.  From 1 April 2003 the government changed the way rents are calculated and required all social landlords to calculate a target rent for every property. Click the button link for more information about target rents ...

Since 1 April 2003 all properties have been let at their target rentFor tenants who were already living in a Soha property before 1 April 2003, the government changed the way in which we can calculate your rents and so we produced a Rent Plan which sets out how Soha will work out your rents so that nearly all the rents reach target rent by 31 March 2012.

You can look at your current rent and target rent by logging on to the tenants' area of this website and clicking on your rent.  Click on the My Home button near the bottom of the side menu
to go to the Tenants' Area.

When will your rent increase?
Soha increases rents once a year at the beginning of each April.  This will normally be from the 1st Monday in April (1 April for tenants on a monthly tenancy).

Rents will increase in line with Soha's Rent Plan in order to move all rents to target rent by 2012.  If your rent is already at target rent, it will increase by a standard amount specified by the Housing Corporation, normally inflation + 0.5%.
