You can apply for your home to be adapted if you are having difficulties due to disability or infirmity. We can put in many things to help you like grab rails, ramps, a shower installation and stair lifts.

If you need your home adapted for a wheelchair it may be appropriate for you to consider moving to a more suitable home which better suits your needs. Find out about transferring to another home

What to do:

What will happen next?

An Occupational Therapist will visit you at home and assess your needs. The Occupational Therapist will then tell Soha what needs to be done.

How long will it take?

If a small adaptation is required, such as lever taps, visual doorbell or handrails, Soha will arrange for this work to be carried out within 4 weeks.

If a major adaptation is required, such as a ramp, shower or stairlift, Soha will need to refer the matter to the Occupational Therapy Department at Oxfordshire County Council.

Disabled Facility Grants

You may be able to get a grant from South Oxfordshire District Council if we need to do major adaptations to your home, such as a stair lift. Grants are available up to £30,000 depending on the work involved and your financial situation. Click here to go to the South Oxfordshire District Council website.
