Estates Inspections
Where and when?
Soha aims to have estates that are safe, clean and support community cohesion – how people live together. We changed our housing team in April 2009 to establish a dedicated neighbourhoods team that extends our ‘reach’ into communities.
We conduct regular inspection on our larger estates ensure these areas are clean, tidy, well maintained and free from anti-social behaviour. The condition of the grass, walls, car park areas, trees, hedges, bin stores, communal facilities, signs, lighting and the level of graffiti, vandalism, fly tipping etc is recorded. A wider staff team – caretakers, housing officers, sheltered scheme managers and RI staff – take part in planned and ad hoc estate inspections elsewhere.
Local residents are welcome to come along to these inspections. Open the current timetable pdf. (

You can raise any issues arising from these inspections or with our Neighbourhoods Officers or report fly-tipping to us at any time.

Estate Improvement Budget
You can apply for improvements to your estate or sheltered scheme such as communal lighting, security improvements such as a new fence, children’s play area or a bench for a sheltered housing scheme etc., from a small fund.
The fund is intended for minor improvements to communal areas not covered by Soha's grounds maintenance contract or our planned maintenance programme. It is not to be used for day to day repairs or work required in individual properties.
