We aim to develop and support sustainable communities: places where people want to live. We work in partnership with a number of agencies to offer a range of community activities and support.
Recent and ongoing initiatives include:
Berinsfield Community Business (BCB) We asked the people who live in Berinsfield to work with us to help improve their village. We also helped to set up a local steering group and residents' association. Views from these groups and local people helped form proposals and resulted in the £3 million redevelopment programme in Berinsfield. With encouragement and support from the local community, we set up an independent community business to manage our 400 homes in Berinsfield. Berinsfield Community Business (BCB) employs local people to help run the neighbourhood. |
Training for Residents In partnership with the Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA), Soha are offering training to tenants and residents in areas where we have housing. Courses run so far have included committee skills, legal issues for housing associations and volunteers, and communication skills. |
Community Learning and Support Partnership (CLASP) The CLASP project ran in partnership with the County Council's Community Education Services, and came to an end in 2005. In this time, the project supported residents in getting more actively involved in their own communities and in influencing the service they receive from Soha Housing. From the CLASP project, several groups, including Residents' Groups, have grown. Click here to view a report of the Neighbourhood Listen events run by CLASP. |
