Accessibility statement for Soha Housing website

Commitment

Soha is committed to making its website widely accessible to visitors regardless of disability or impairment. Soha has carried out work to make sure its key pages and information are accessible and is ensuring that this remains the case and is improved as an on-going part of the continuing development of this website.

Text Size

Most browsers allow users to change the text size and zoom pages to one which is suitable to them. Soha has therefore not included text size buttons on its website as it is felt that allowing users to use the features browsers provide and with which they are familiar is better and the way in which website usage is moving.
In Internet Explorer this feature is found at the bottom right of the browser as a magnifying glass and percentage button, like this:

The website is better viewed with the browser zoom features instead of changing the text size if you do need to change the text size. The normal screen resolution in order to best view the site is 1024 x 768 (or 1280 x 800 widescreen) using the medium font settings.

Translation

If English is not your first language, you can translate the pages of the Soha website into another language using a Google feature called Google Translate. Click here to be directed to Google Translate for this website. You will need to choose your language and then click on translate.

Links

PDFs and off-site links will open in the current browser window, by default. All standard browser controls regarding opening such links in new tabs or pages remain in control of the user by using the right-click functions.

Graphics

The majority of the graphics and images on this website contain descriptive text for those using screen readers. There are some decorative graphics and images which do not have this text.

Compliance

In compliance with the UK DDA 1995 and in the spirit of UK PAS 78, we are currently aiming to acheive a minimum accessibility standard of 'A', as defined by the W3C, over the majority of the website, with some pages rating 'AA'.

We are also working to ensure that the XHTML 1.0 Transitional Document Type Definition and the CSS code used for styling the page are compliant with current W3C standardsUsers should find that they are able to make use of the many accessibility options provided within any modern browser.
