Our approach to equality and diversity

We're committed to equality and diversity.

We are committed to providing equal treatment for individuals, ensuring equality of opportunity in access to housing services and employment. Through our comprehensive Single Equality Strategy we aim to embrace the principles and practices that encourage equality regardless of Race, Disability, Sex, Age, Sexual Orientation, Gender Reassignment, Marriage and Civil Partnership, Pregnancy and Maternity, Faith, Religion and Belief.

We have a firm commitment to the promotion and support of equality and diversity as it is a core part of our corporate plan, policies and procedures.

The Equality Scheme highlights some of our achievements so far, it also shows our commitment to embracing diversity, respecting choice and celebrating individuality.

Everybody at Soha has a responsibility to make sure that our equality and diversity policy is put into practice – whenever we’re working with residents, local groups, contractors, consultants and suppliers. We expect their support and co-operation to make sure we’re fair at all times.

How we monitor how we’re doing on equality and diversity

We carry out equality impact assessments (EIAs) on our policies, services and strategies – looking at their potential impact on our residents. These assessments help our staff deliver excellent customer service to our residents and to think carefully about the impact of our work on our residents.

If you would like to see our current EIAs (on topics such as ASB, gas servicing, and responsive repairs) please contact us.
