Housing Day is an annual event that plays an important role in raising the profile of the housing sector and tackling stigma and stereotypes.
This year’s theme is “Tenant’s Voice” and highlights how important it is for landlords to listen to tenants to ensure we’re delivering excellent quality services. We want tenants to participate in a meaningful way in how landlords make the decisions that impact on tenants’ lives.
Chief Executive of Soha, Kate Wareing, said: "The focus of this year's Housing Day is very timely as we are right in the middle of the consultation period for the Government's Social Housing Green Paper. This places an emphasis on ensuring tenants have access to effective complaints mechanisms, can participate in decision making, and are not stigmatized because of their tenure. Soha’s existing good practice is profiled in the Green Paper, some of our tenants have already met with John Howell MP to provide their feedback, and we’ll be providing written input in to the consultation."
To mark Housing Day, Soha has published a short video of some of our tenants giving their “Tenant’s Voice”.
Some Soha residents are also tweeting their thoughts throughout today - follow them and others on Twitter at #HousingDay18.
