A new, free Get Online session at Henley Library got off to a flying start on 18 October.
The event, run by Soha Housing for anyone in Henley – Soha resident or not – met a variety of support needs, from setting up and using an Ipad through to starting to use a smartphone. The guests are now thinking about which applications will be useful so that they can load them up and try them out at the next session. Soha has had its own app for more than a year. It allows residents to manage everything to do with their tenancy - including reporting a repair or neighbourhood issues with a photo, paying rent and checking tenancy details - at a time which suits them.
One resident said that she had learnt more in one hour than she had on previous courses that were held over weeks. Paul Shackleford, Soha’s Digital Inclusion and Employment Support Adviser, puts this down to the sessions taking place in a small group, meaning every guest is supportive of each other.
Get Online will be back at Henley library on 15 November, 10 December and 10 January, all between 2.30 and 4pm. To book please email email@example.com or call 0800 014 15 45 (Freephone).
