Soha Housing’s first AGM as a mutual organisation took place on 12 September.
Soha tenants, leaseholders and shared owners have been eligible to become shareholding members of Soha since the end of 2017 and many took the opportunity to attend the AGM. This was also Soha’s first AGM under Chief Executive Kate Wareing (pictured presenting), who joined the company in July.
Two Board members who had served the maximum nine years - tenants Don Harrison and Val Kir - retired and, following selection and
interview by the Appointments Panel, tenants Victoria Dingle and Hayley Smith were elected as Board members. Lucy Weston was re-elected.
Soha’s new Community Empowerment Strategy (CES) was approved. Members of the Members’ Forum, Membership Commission (those
tenants who had worked with Soha in the mutualisation process and who continue to spearhead membership amongst their peers) and the Board hosted discussions on the future plan and direction of the CES. These included how to use to community benefit the £1 joining fee paid by residents when they apply to become members.
