Resident Board Member

Resident Board Member (two vacancies)

Would you like to help direct and monitor the business of Soha?  Are you interested in taking the first or next step on your engagement journey?

We’re looking for two residents who want to get involved at the top level to join Soha’s Board from September 2021.  Any Soha resident (including leaseholders and shared owners) who is also a shareholding Member is eligible to apply.
If you have a common sense approach and a questioning mind, if you can challenge constructively and discuss your views with others, please get in touch.  You do not necessarily need experience on another Board to apply, however, you will need to demonstrate that you have the right skills or that you can develop them with our support.
We believe a diverse Board makes better decisions.

Next steps
  • Invitation to discuss position with Chief Executive or Chair of the Board
  • Opportunity for training/advice sessions including with a current resident Board member and/or invitation to observe a Board meeting (from May through to July)
  • Application form submitted (closing date is likely to be towards the end of June)
  • Shortlisting of applications according to the skills/ability of the applicant and the skills required by the Board (late June)
  • Appointments Panel comprising the Chief Executive, the Chair of the Board, one member of the Personnel and Remuneration Committee and two members of the Members’ Forum will carry out interviews (early July)
  • Position offered to successful candidate(s) subject to Member confirmation at the AGM in September

For more information or to have a chat about the role with Kate Wareing, Chief Executive or Lucy Weston, Chair of the Board please call Marisa Elliott on 01235 515903 or email melliott@soha.co.uk
