If you’re looking for a place to live there’s information here to help.
Our homes are for people who prefer to rent, or can’t afford to rent or buy in the private sector. We have homes throughout Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and West Berkshire. To help you work out what type of home would be best for you, read our Right Place Right Price booklet.
To rent a home from us you’ll first need to apply to your local council, because they manage the housing list for their area. We don’t keep a housing register or waiting list ourselves.
Your council allocates affordable rented homes (usually known as social housing) to people in most housing need. They set their housing priorities for their area and they will decide if you’re eligible to get onto the housing list.
How do I apply to rent a Soha home?
You need to register with your local council. They will assess your housing need and explain the ‘points’ or ‘banding system’ they use to prioritise people. They should also be able to give you a rough idea of how long it might take before you get offered any housing.
Most of the local councils we work with advertise available homes for rent (including Soha homes and other housing association properties), through their own lettings schemes. But the first step is to get in touch with your local council and talk to them about applying for council (or social) housing.
