My community

Get involved in your community – make your neighbourhood a better place to live.

You can also meet new people and make new friends.

Joining a local group in your area really can make a positive difference – so why not give it a go?

Find out what’s going on by checking out our events calendar. Or if there’s nothing that grabs you, why not get in touch with your own ideas.

Residents’ groups

These are groups run by local people who want to make things better where they live. They’re a great way for neighbours to get together to talk about local issues or highlight things that aren’t working as well as they could.

Residents’ groups are pretty informal and everybody is welcome.

If you want your group to be more organised and formally structured you might want to think about becoming a resident association – where you’d vote on a chair and a secretary, be able to apply for funding, and get access to training opportunities from various national tenant organisations.

If there’s a residents’ group near you we’ll put you in touch. But if you feel you’d like to start a group – we can help with that and give you a grant to get you up and running. Send us an email or give us a call to find out more.

See how resident associations can really make a difference.

Community events and activities

There are groups you can join, fun social get-togethers in your neighbourhood and local projects where you can learn new skills. Come along and have a go on a climbing wall, play laser tag, improve your IT skills, or do something a bit less energetic!

We organise community and street events throughout the year. Find out what’s going on.

Join our walkabouts

Get together with your local neighbourhood officer and talk about any neighbourhood issues you’re worried about. During the walkabout you’ll look at things like the paths and grassy areas, lighting, communal areas, car parking and bin stores. We’ll make a note of everything that needs attention and make sure it’s followed up.

If you’d like to join us, just call our neighbourhood team on 01235 515 900 or freephone 0800 014 15 45 and we’ll agree a place and time to meet. Or check out our walkabouts timetable in our events calendar

Green champions

You’ll be our eyes and ears – making sure that your local surroundings are up to scratch and helping to make your community a greener place to live.

We know you want to live in safe and clean neighbourhoods – so why not help us by becoming a green champion?
