Why get involved?

It’s about making a difference.

Whether it’s having a say on how we do things, being part of the decision-making process, or just joining in events and activities in your neighbourhood.

If you get involved you’ll get full training and support. You’ll also:

  • gain new skills and experience
  • meet new people
  • try new things
  • improve your confidence, and
  • become more of a part of your community

We’ll make it as easy as possible for you to get involved and you won’t be out of pocket. We’ll usually reimburse reasonable childcare, carer and travel expenses – as well as giving you shopping vouchers as a thank you for your time and effort.

Vic Breach, Chair of Soha's Tenants' Forum

I’ve been a Soha tenant since 1997, and in 2009 became the chair of the Tenants’ Forum. As residents we can help to shape Soha’s services. I’m enthusiastic about this and I’d like to encourage everyone to get involved. All levels of involvement are valuable – from a five-minute survey to membership of one of our co-regulation bodies. Soha has been recognised nationally for its innovative work on resident involvement. If you are a Soha resident, you can be part of it.

How much time will it take?

There are lots of different opportunities to get involved, either at home, out and about in your local area or at Soha’s office.

If you can spare a couple of hours a year, or want to make a bigger contribution, we have something to suit you. We can tailor things around you – to fit in with your everyday life and your commitments.
